Research as a long-term moat

Most companies treat research as a side project. We treat it as core infrastructure.

Our research collaboration with Alcorao Labs exists because the questions we are asking — about AI, blockchain, and quantum-resilient computing — do not have short-term answers. They have long-term ones.

What we mean by “long-term”

Long-term, in this context, means three things:

1. Horizon. We measure progress in years, not weeks.
2. Discipline. We do not publish results that have not been substantiated.
3. Compounding. We invest in shared research infrastructure that each operating business can build on.

Why this is a moat

The moat is not the research itself. The moat is the ability to keep doing it, patiently, when the cycle turns. That is a parent company's job.
